Kingston was 1 and 1/2 years old when I walked int

Kingston was 1 and 1/2 years old when I walked into his room and found him in his crib stiff as a board, gasping for air and shaking.

I had no idea what was going on, and it was just him and I at the house.

I quickly grabbed him out of the crib and called 911.

As I described to the operator what he was doing, they told me he was having a seizure and to put him on his side.

I heard about seizures all the time, but I would have never thought it would be happening to my perfectly healthy firstborn child.

After two seizures in the same week, the doctors admitted him to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for further testing. ⁣
⁣
I felt defeated and confused. He was so young. His EEG and MRI came back normal, and we walked away not knowing why he was having seizures at such a young age or what the root cause was.

After a few relapses and continues patterns we realized he was triggered by high fever and would have Febrile seizures - which was something he would eventually grow out of - and he did.

Medication was the only thing that would help him. He was on a super low dose (Keppra) twice a day

As a mother, you worry about the safety and well-being of your children but we are forever grateful for the tools and resources that are available.

There are so many families, children, and adults living with Epilepsy that still need more resources and help.
